Single Item Spending Cap

The governing documents as they currently stand give cart blanch to our board to spend any amount they want without owner consensus. Do we need to address this issue by putting a single item spending cap without owner consensus.

End

Do you believe there should be a cap on what the Board can spend on single items, without owner consensus?

  1. Vintage Oaks Mission Statement specifically states¸ “To enhance and preserve the quality of life and sense of community of VO residents, with the management of association that is ethical, fiscally responsible, and supports the benefit of the greater good of the community.” In order to support the majority, the board needs to come up with a thrifty and innovative way to address all owners and collect a consensus data prior to making any budget expenditures. A great majority of the owner population can’t attend the board and town meetings due to other priority family decision such as after school activities, work hours, homework support and other daily life decisions. Another point is our wine room does not support our owner population. Although the owners choose our board members to represent owner concerns, they lack the resource to get the majority consensus to make their decisions. This spending cap should only be for cost exceeding $5K.
