Pools usability

user submitted poll:

A common complaint on social media seems to be children playing with balls in and around the pools. As with any pool ball games, it is usually prefered to be in standing height water. Given the above, the children’s pool seems to be the goto pool for ball games.

Another complaint making the rounds is the children’s play area in the pools complex gets far to hot to use in the summer months. It also poses a saftey risk as wet children and slides are not compatible with solid ground.

What I am asking for feedback here, is a solution to both problems.

  1. Move the childrens playground to the unused land next to the Fitness Center. This will be used far more as the Grove has the higher majority of young children. This would allow parents to walk with their youngsters to the play area rather than having to get them both, changed for the pool area and the need to drive them there. A simple structural shade could provide usability all year round.
  2. Use the now vacant play area in the pool complex for a ball games pool. This could have a vollyball net which could be detached as needed. This pool could also be used for water fitness clubs amongst other things.

note from admin.

We have split this into two polls.

As usual any alternative solutions for the above noted problems can be entered in the comments section below.

  1. If the playscape is moved from the pool to the Grove, the empty space could be used for a splash pad. This would likely be used a lot more than a ball-pool, and provide a great amenity for children.

  2. I think there needs to be an ADDITIONAL playground in the Grove area. I don’t think the pool playground should be removed, it is used quite a bit by youth at the pool. The cover over the pool playground should be expanded so that the play equipment is in the shade most of the day.

  3. Interesting proposal.
It does not solve the primary argument of the equipment being too hot though. It’s no cooler at the Grove location.
The problem with a specific pool for ball games is that once you have 1-2 groups plying ball in that pool, the others that want to do the same will still spill over into the other pool. I’m all for just being respectful of others and being mindful of where balls are flying. Too many rules detracts from any fun – let the kids play and learn to be respectful.
Additionally, we already have a fitness pool at the fitness center.

  4. I think the moving of the play area to the Grove is an excellent idea for both, usage and safety.
Not being one who uses the pools on a regular basis, i do not think I am qualified to answer the Ball Pool Poll {that’s a mouth full!).
