The trails are costing us $23,826 in yearly maintenance costs. This cost doesn’t include the $14,000 dollar cost for the new trail expansion. The cost also does not include future maintenance cost associated with the new expansion. The trails are also pose many safety and privacy concerns. Although these trails are designated for hiking, individuals are riding the trails with motorized sports vehicles and tearing up the hiking terrain. This also poses some threats to our wildlife.
End
Should we consider closing the trails due to all the associated concerns?

How many people use the trails? Where are you getting your data? Please validate source? Fact: trails expose a lot of hazards. We are spending money to maintain trails so if the current budget is not sufficient to meet your satisfaction, then be ready for TNC to raise its budget to improve trail maintenance inclusive of the new proposed trail. A better solution is to make the trails privately funded for those that use them.
Not sure where money is going, trails are not maintained. We do not maintain the trails we have now, but, want add on more? We have a lot serious daily walkers young, old all ages. Trails are used!

Trails are one of the livability benefits to our neighborhood, have always been part of the design and selling points of the neighborhood, and promote health and fitness.
Regarding privacy: One does not own the view or the land beyond their property. There is no right to control the owners of the property from development.
Again…in the “setup” for this poll, only the dissenting votes perspective and arguments are presented. If the polls on this site are to be valuable, eliminate the biased polling.
This was a user submitter poll. If you want to give a different prospective, please do so in the comments or submit something we will publish under the above, just before the poll.

1. Trails are one of the livability benefits to our neighborhood, have always been part of the design and selling points of the neighborhood, and promote health and fitness. This is one of the reasons (current trails and future development) that some people bought homes in the neighborhood.
2. Regarding privacy: One does not own the view or the land beyond their property. There is no right to control the owners of the property from development. Bottom line, if you want privacy, ensure you own the land you want to protect – should you be able to tell your next door neighbor they cannot walk in their yard adjacent to your property?
Health and fitness comes with safety. The trails have many hazards. Vintage Oaks is not under Southstar so the community has a say. We need the community to send more votes to validate community majority on this issue. Bottom line: The community needs to think about privacy concerns, safety, and budget allocation prior to voting and making thier argument.
Please explain biased polling?
Please submit the other prospective. It will be published on the article. The more prospective we get, the more enlightened owners can be before voting.
The trail was there before and when the owner bought the home. Thus it is moot and unworthy of examination to claim the trail should be closed. Those who violate the trail policy should receive a significant fine and be referred to law enforcement. As an example a 2,000 fine and loss of all amenity use for a year would be a good start.
I agree on the fine if caught — good luck on this one. Maybe we should invest for another ATV (14k) and another security patrol (40k). Correct me if this cost are wrong. I might be a shy short.
Maybe there should be some barriers at the beginning of the trails to keep the sports vehicles off.
We bought our house in this neighborhood because it has hiking trails! Would be very upset it they are closed. Also, want to see the expansion of the trans to link in The Grove area
We is in what number and what data do you have to represent the majority?
Not sure how many people use them. One thing is for sure, the proposed expansion poses some serious privacy issues.
Totally agree to close the trails
Solution: Stop funding the trails and have volunteers maintain the trails. Since the tractor and ATV are owned by the POA, the Operational Superintendent should designate his own time with volunteer efforts operating the equipment- he makes enough money from the owners. If the operational superintendent does not want to volunteer his time, then find a qualified volunteer. Funding for supplies and tools should be allowed. Keep TNC from robbing the owners.
