We received a few ridiculous violations for the same exact issue in the past that were based entirely on the subjective opinion of the particular volunteer who was assigned our street. For context, I had some potted plants in decorative containers that kept getting hit for not being planted in ground. Each time I contacted the neighborhood company to discuss the issue & learned there was no actual violation, decorative pots are allowed & no need to change anything. However the same violation came in the mail a month down the road and again a few weeks later. The rep I emailed with was very apologetic but the volunteer kept submitting it regardless. It’s funny, I haven’t had any problems since that volunteer committee was dissolved, so we are quite happy with that decision.
I have also noticed rules not being enforced equally. I know of neighbors wanting to build a casita on their 1 acre lots but were turned down because you supposedly need at least 2 acres? I see casitas on many 1 acre lots in VO.. There are many more issues similar to this, no point in trying to list them all here. It just seems to me some guidelines are very arbitrary and/or simply unnecessary for ensuring VO remains a great place to live. Especially when it appears enforcement of said guidelines is not exactly uniform.
Maybe I shouldn’t discuss my alleged violations. I wonder why I get them.
I believe committee members get away with more than others.
